The book

My life just keeps getting boring...

"Kath.. I'm off for work" mum said walking briskly to her car...

I'm the only child and my parents loves me with all their heart. But they're always busy. My dad works in a rig so he comes home once in 2 months. My parents always make sure I get what I want but they are overprotective. I can't leave the house because it's not safe. That's what my parents always tell me. And I grew up with such mentality.

I always imagined what the outside world will be like.

"Kath, your driver will arrive soon". That's my mum talking again before she left for work. Here we go again. I live like a triangle. From house to school from school back to the house and at times we go to church. Whenever we're at church, my mom will make sure that I sit close to her. Her eyes are always on me. I won't blame them. I blame the circumstances surrounding my birth.

Lest I forget, my mom's a banker and her day off is only on Saturdays and Sundays. Most times, she's also busy on Saturdays when she attends conference and business meetings.

Where was I...

I was talking about the circumstances surrounding my birth. My parents met when they were in their teens and they were both young and reckless. Years after their dating, my dad proposed to my mom...they were already having sex...I kinda figured that out.

My dad had a terrible accident and was told by his doctor that he couldn't father a child. That means my dad is impotent.

It seemed like all hopes were lost. But my mum didn't stop loving my dad. Weeks after that deadly announcement, my mom started having serious headaches, early morning vomiting, she was always feeling dizzy. She always got irritated by all things that came her way. My dad thought it was as a result of the bad news. My mom also thought as much but her situation became terrible as days went by and my mom had to go to the hospital to find out what's happening to her. She took a test. The doctor told her to come the next day for the medical test result. To my mom's surprise, she was two months pregnant. That's how I realized that they were having sex before marriage which is the order of the day...

My dad was so happy because he's hopes were restored. He named me Esperar which is Spanish for Hope. He expected a boy. But he wasn't that disappointed.

Esperar is a name reserved only for my dad to call me.

Everyone calls me Kathy or Kath. That's why my parents are overprotective of me.

Time for school...

It's Mrs Zara's class on history. My favorite subject in high school..

"Good morning ma" the class echoed.. History, Maths and English are best learned in the morning when the brain is still fresh.

" Our topic today is Nigeria in history". Mrs zara said as the topic and content of the Topic was displayed on the projector. I listened attentively to her lectures and scribbled down all she said.

According to her, Nigeria had much history before the coming of the Europeans into their land. They had Empires and rich cultural heritage which was passed down orally from generation to generation. Because there were no papers and writing methods, their history was not documented. That's why the Europeans thought that Nigeria didn't have a history. I enjoyed every detail of her teaching...

After few more classes, school was over.

"Kath! Kath! wait up" it was Emily talking..

She's my only friend and my best friend. Emily was very wild and opened. She loves exploring things and her parents gives her free hands to explore the world. That will be a bad friend in the eyes of my parents. Nevermind cos... they'll never find out.

"Kath" she continued yelling as she walked up to me...

"Hi Emily what's up"? I asked...

"Guess what" Emily asked

"Well .. Emily you know that I ain't the guessing type right"

" Oh I forgot" Jason asked me out"

"Omg he did" I said feigning a surprise look. Emily didn't care...she just kept on talking and talking..

" Yeah Jason did..he asked me out on a date at Vegas restaurant yesterday after school..it was a perfect afternoon to ask a beautiful lady like me out" Emily said flaunting her beauty. I always considered Emily to be the sexiest and prettiest girl at school. She got the body curves, sexy eyes and killing looks. Emily and Jason has been friends for a while so I'm not surprised if he asked he out.

"Kath will you go out for swimming with me?" Emily burst out suddenly. Well well well here we go again I said to myself.

" Emily, you know my parents aren't gonna allow me walk past my gate except I'm going to church or school...it's not as if I'm rejecting your offer but the circumstance around me rejects your offer". "Can't you escape, or something like that?" Emily retorted.

"How can I do that you know that there's CCTV cameras everywhere and my parents are always watching my every movement from their place of work". I fired back at her.

Emily just looked at me and said nothing.

"I wonder when your parents will set you free" was the only reply I got from my bestie.

Deep down, I knew that I could escape from my parents. But I was scared of the outside world and I didn't want to face the harsh and terrible conditions of the outside world. So childish right...

One would ask what keeps me busy at home...well I'm a bibliophile meaning that I love reading books...

Books of all kind but I've never read an erotica. Emily supplied me with dozens and dozens of books to read and I always appreciated her for that.

Her mom always bought books for her and Emily never read them. She just passed it on to me.

"Kath I've got a wonderful book for you to read" Emily said as she brought out a book from her bag.

The cover picture was thrilling.

The man and the woman were stark naked. I felt as though my eyes were opened.
